With the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, installing the newest operating system by Microsoft manually is really easy.
The way it works is that I just "enable" the router functionality and then.If you want to update your PC to Windows 10, but you're having trouble with the download and automatic update on your computer, you can resort to Media Creation Tool, with which you can create a USB or DVD with files necessary to carry out the installation manually, thanks to this Windows 10 ISO or USB Tool. Shout Out To Xfinity (Personal Home Internet) Networkingįirst, this pains me.This is my dilemma I just need to make sure the media creation tool will create the media that will allow for our OEM key to be installed. The machine that will be getting the windows 10 is bare bones, no OS on it. It is pretty hit and miss whether a 7 key will activate 10 now and, as others have stated, it is no longer a legitimate way to license 10 leaving the OP in an awkward position should MS ever decide to perform an audit. If there isn't then it will ask you for a license during the install. The installer looks at the UEFI to see if there is a key pre-installed in it and will use that. If the machine came with Windows 10 and has an OEM key in the UEFI then you can safely forget about the Windows 7 key. So when I select the verion I select 10 Pro, right? Will it ask for a key at some point? I just want to be sure I am using the right media for the OEM key and I haven't used the media tool much before, I am used to already having an existing ISO to load. I am making the bootable USB with media creation tool. We have the Windows 10 OEM key, though? I am confused now lol. When it asks for the product key, enter your Windows 7 key.
Thank you! The windows 7 usb would need to be formatted so we can load the windows 10 media, so how would it see the OEM key from the UEFI if I remove the 7 install from the USb I will be using for 10?
If you have a 10 OEM key then it will pick it up from the UEFI, otherwise it will ask for either a license key or Microsoft account to activate.Īs for using the Windows 7 VL or a 7 OEM, the free upgrade period is long over so you should look at getting the correct Windows 10 license for the machine. Use the Media Creation Tool (linked above) to create your USB image.
